Is there anyone running this on Vista? Was running the tutorial last night and it was very slow.
Thanks
Ok this isn't very helpful I know, and a bit OT too.
Don't waste your time with S M Railroads, in my opinion RT3 and RAA are both much better games, not to mention RT2 which is awesome aswell.

Heck....Just stick with the new RR sim....Rail Simulator http://www.railsimulator.com/ ...It tops both MSTS and TRS....
I was really disappointed with the last few Railroads attempts. I love, and still play RRT2. I do miss the signals and stuff from RRT1 though. It was more fun once you got a really big empire you could pull back and play dispatcher. Miss that aspect. Does not work the same in 2. In three they were too enamoured with riding the trains and forgot to have a playable game. Railroads is too toy like with almost no limit on track configurations. I do wish I still had a workable version of Transportation Tycoon. The trains in that were fun, plus you could plug them into a real transport system and had to deal with town attitudes to get what you want. They managed to mess that game up with Locomotion.
SM Railroads is "ok". The part that I like best is the signals. AI logic seems to adjust to ALMOST any circumstance, which can get quite complex.
I wish RRT3 had been more like RRT2, but with those SMR signals, amd much longer trains.I am a huge fan of RRT2 (Gold edition with train classes, goods warehouing, etc)
Locomotion is OK for the first few scenarios, but the AI builds track with no regard for cost, or physics, Well, I guess, maybe rollercoaster physics! Signals are OK as well. That rollercoaster feel really kills it for me, though.
I'd suggest a look at "Transport Giant Gold". It has a few idiosynchrasies, and gets lots of bad-mouthing for technical issues, even on this forum, but my copy plays perfect, on Vista even. I admit, I can't get the signals to work, but you don't need to use them. What you do get to do, is run 64 car trains, store up to 255 loads in warehouses for shipment on different trains, double and triple-head locos, figure tonnage for loco assignment, and maintenace intervals that affect traction ratings, reliability, and speed. Another downfall is 2-axis track placement instead of three, and no grades, however you do get multiple drag and drop curve radii, tunnels, bridges and flyovers, and LOTS of engine choices. My copy came from England via Ebay for $15 total.
I do like the strategy sim more than the 1st person style, that seems to have taken over popularity. I have seen indication that the latest "Trains" has a strategy componant, anyone care to elaborate?
I wish I was a programmer so I could pick all the best features of RRT2, SMR, Locomotion, and TG Gold, and fuse them all into a real knockout. It's all there, just not all together!
One last...What is RAA?
