Problems installing Trainz2006 - HELP!

Has anyone else encountered problems installing Trainz 2006 from CDRom? I get to the point in the install where it asks for the fifth CD to be inserted and then the install hangs. It ceases to respond to the point that I have to use Windows Task Manager to kill the process.
My system is:
Dell P4-3.0GHz
2.0 Gig of Ram
256MB ATI PCI-x Video Card
WinXP
DirectX 9
If anyone else has run into this please report what you found the cause to be, or how you solved the problem
Thanks.

Knowing how Dells are it might be something with the graphics card/controller. If the graphics isn't compatible with the game, it usually won't install. Other than that I don't know what to tell you. Good Luck!

Nope, its not the graphics card. I had them replace the DVD/CD R/W unit as it was grinding, but still it won't complete the install. So, I've given up and instead of running the game on our new P4-3GHz machine I'm clunking along on an old Duron750 until I get the time and $$$ to build another machine for myself and leave the Dell for my wife.

I just received Trainz 2006 and had the exact same problem you discribe, although I have not had time to try again.. I did try to launch the software after getting out of the installation. The very first thing the program does is check hardware compatibiltiy. My system passed no problem. I did get errors about the serial number not correct, and if I tried to load a scenerio it couldn't find a map. All of this I expect since the installation did not complete. But I'm not convinced that the system is causing the problem. My system is very close to yours, Dell P4 3.1 1Gig, Nvidia FX5200. I'm going to try again and shut down all possible TSR's. My original thought was that the 5th disk was at fault, the system keeps looking for it even when it is in place.
My guess is that others have seen this issue, hopefully someone will find the answer.

Ok, I have sucessfully installed Trainz2006, I did not remove any files from the original install but reinstalled over them. The only thing I did was to close all of the TRS programs. (everything possible down in the lower right of the task bar). The install went off without a hitch. Program functions fine. I think this should work for you.
Good Luck
