Train Sim on XP

ok, my computer is deffinately fast enough to run it, but it has frozen twice already....ive had train sim installed for 3 days,.......why/

is there a patch i need for xp or something?

Try to reinstall it. I run windows xp also,I have no trouble with it though. If that doesn`t work let me know.

If that doesn`t work download a new driver for your video card. It`s called ATI Rage Pro 128.
If that didn`t fix it let me know and I will tell you something else to do.

I am not good with computers, but the first week I owned train sim, xp gave me all kinds of problems. I would do a restart, and it would work fine. Now it gives me no problems when running, so you might just want to give it time.

what r.rs. names are there to use? can you make one up? where is the game played?

i bet the r.rs. could make a small fortune by licensing fallen flags and old routes for those who prefer the
good ole' days..

Here is a hint for loading new software into your computer. BEFORE you even put the disc into your computer, complete the following; 1st do a Ctrl/Alt/Del, then highlite and close every program listed by clicking on "End Task". DO NOT CLOSE "EXPLORER"!!!!! You will have to do a Ctl/Alt/Del and "End Task" for each program that you have running. Some programs take more than one try. When you have only "Explorer" left, THEN put your disc into your computer and load your new program. Some programs have conflicts with other programs and you will not get a clean load. By eliminating all possible conflicts before you load a new program, you've up-your-odds for a more successful new program load.

In the game they have one of bnsf`s GP38 and Dash 9 on the Marias Pass route and Amtrak`s North east line. And some more routes also. You can download many more routes,locomotives,cars,etc.
It`s a great game !!!!

it froze twice today
i reinstalled it

its only happened on activities ive installed from website.....that would do it wouldnt it...and on one ive created....
WHY!

Cause MSTS IS A PIECE OF CRAP!!!,It ate up my PC Big Time Just Installing teh Dang Thing,plus all the stuff for it to work 100% and the Activities and Etc.My opion is that Get Rid Of MSTS Before It Really Messes Up Your PC Trust Me Ok.Its Sucks.I Dont Mean To Be Harsh But That's What I Think Of MSTS.I have a acuall Desktop Console I Made and then I watach Cab Ride Tapes and That's way Better then the MSTS Belive Me

MSTS is one of the best games ever made!!!
If you downloaded the routes it`s most likely
the person who made it falt.

It probably is the add ons you have loaded that is causing the problem. To assist me in helping you out here are a couple of questions: Does it run ok in the basic version loaded off the CD. If that works then go on to load the downloaded activities one by one. Load one and then try to run the game. That way you will be able to find out what is messing it up. Also, exactly what does it do when it "freezes". Does it get stuck loading the game, in the middle of running, loading the route, etc. If it freezes right after you choose what you want to run then it is definitely the add on. You can e-mail me back directly with what you are trying to use (add-ons) and then I'll see about checking them out (haveing had the same problems and then finally learning enough to fix some of the problems and making my own stuff.) It sounds like you downloaded some activities but you may not have all the proper equipment to complete the consist it wants to put together. MSTS is very funny about this. Everything has to be just perfect or it will crash. Most routes or activities that I have downloaded work great but a few don't. I recommend downloading Marias pass 3.1. It is much better than the default one. Also go to the Microsoft Train simulator web site and find the ''Insider'' section and find out how to change the camera focal views. Most MSTS default camera veiws are set at wide angle which is not how us humans see the real world. This is a must.
