Does anyone know if their is software available that allows the user to change signals and place objects on the tracks while you are in the middle of a sim trip? I am looking for something that is realistic and challenging and has the capabilities to add any type of consist as well.

I don't think any allow that yet, but Kuju's RailSimulator is supposed to allow editing the route while in an activity.
