Newbie Hardware Question

  • I'm thinking about giving Microsoft Train Simulator a try. I've always resisted the idea because I know if it works out, I'll never leave my computer room, and the missus would eventually make her displeasure known in some creative way.

However, being a B&O fan, the discovery that there is something like Maple Leaf's Sand Patch add-on available out there makes the temptation almost irresistible. To hell with marital harmony if I can spend the coming winter running an SD40-2 in Chessie System colors over Sand Patch! [:D]

My question... questions... are: I'm using a Dell desktop with 2.53 gHz P4, 1 gB RAM, and a 64 mB GeForce4 graphics card. Would that be enough muscle to give a good experience? Would I find myself wishing I had a more powerful video card? Is there an FAQ around that would help me learn more on this kind of thing?

    Thanks!
