I finally made it thru West Java. I big holed at East Java, after getting the air back under 'em I used heavy sand all the way thru. Usually we break em apart on the bridge but I think sanding kept us togather. just f.y.i. in case anyone else was having a problem there.

Hi,
You guys amaze me. Did I understand you are coming down grade? I too have difficulty on many places, slowing down soon enough and find myself going too fast on many down grades, especially with trains longer than 20 cars.
What do you mean "big holed?"
Did you mean you used sand coming down grade? I never heard of that.

Approach the grade very slowly. (like 5mph) As long as u apply the train and loco brake at the same time there wont be any trouble.
If u think Maria's Pass is hard, u should try the Kicking Horse pass expansion pack. Try taking a real heavy (not microsoft's 3 Dash-9S to 40 cars) freight downhill!! The CP trains are 1 mile at least!!!

yea......after summit.....to java....the dynamics are NOT ENOUGH....and the loco on 100% isnt enough.............you gotta have all 3 brakes on to keep under 25 mph....and youll most likely get some -ve slack action.........i havnt done it.
10000 feet and no dynamics? Today is going to be a good day ...
