Well I have new routes, 100 engines and over 800 cars downloaded.
Get em all at the www.train-sim.com file library .... there are also a lot of programs to help you fix the crap that came with that game.
10000 feet and no dynamics? Today is going to be a good day ...

I got bored with the default items in MSTS very quickly. I highly recommend www.train-sim.com, they have a lot of free downloads and information to other sites with upgrades.

I recommend 2 routes on www.avsim.com. The Ohio Rails route and additions cover steam through transition to modern. Really nice free route. Also available is the PRR Middle River division (horseshoe curve), with a recent addition to add length. You do not have the hit or miss access for free. Not too much in locos or rolling stock here (other than the Ohio Rails items).
www.railserve.com has some good locos and rolling stock. Easy to access the downloads, but you are limited to I think 20 a day.
www.alabamarailfan.com is good for locos and a few cars.
Also from train-sim, be sure to check the add sites. Many of them have a few free downloads available, some with self installers!
On train-sim recently there have been quite a few additions to the route list. With all the people downloading them, free access has been rather limited the last couple of weeks.

The Aurans site also has a freebie DD40X in Up colors (you do have to register, but that is free too). There are some repaints based on it on Train-sim. You need the original model from Aurans to use them though.

I have TRS2004, and the DD40A, is a default built in content, with the program.
You might get three free entries into the forum, however, I believe the Download Station, is registered user only, at this point. Google TRS2004.
Really, here's a demo version, 101mb, that I always recommend. http://www.strategyfirst.ca/downloads/demos/UTC_Demo_405.zip .
Strategy First, has the TRS2004 software available. There are currently 41,500 items available, for anything that you could think of, and most you can't recall.

The DD40X freebie on their site is for MSTS. Sorry I wasn't clear about that. There are reskins of that model available on train-sim which add quite a few more.
