Micro Soft Train Simulator Very SLOW

I am running windows 2000 Pro with a e-TNT2 M64 video card. AMD K6 lll running at 450 mHz and 256k ram. The program runs very slow and if you move the mouse it seems to lockup. The task manager indicante the program is runnig. If I wait long enough the mouse will free up for maybe another move. Any suggestion onwhat is causing the problem

That computer really is to slow for MSTS.
