Hello allBrand new to the forum and the hobby in most respects. I just bought my first set, a Lionel Polar Express kit. I've added a few cars and some track and am quickly getting addicted.I'm interested in a simulator mostly for fun but would defiantly want the best. I know MS makes a sim but I really have had some bad experiences with them with their Flight Simulator, but if its the best, its the best.Of the few points I would consider that are important are, the biggest one is that it runs well. Because of FS I have a pretty powerful PC and without going into all the specs I can run that at about 80% but I wouldn't call it top of the line at this point.
Basically this is one of the points though I find very questionable about MS though as I have had so many bad experiences over the years with FS and the way MS runs and supports that sim so if I could I would prefer to stay away form them if I can but again if its the best its the best.
Second I was hoping for a sim that has a good add-on/customization capability and a good freeware & a good public following/community, again only knowing MSFS so I am used to a pretty big choice in all those.
Thanks for any help
MSTS is not perfect, but i would give it an 8 or 9 out of 10. There are many addons available from several websites. Overall, pretty good

This is how I see it
MSTS= Long driving freight trains from point A to point B
TRS= Good easy switching sim if you wanna switch out a lot of industries...Easier to do so on here than MSTS
I have both and run them both daily......MSTS has better sounds and cabs...I'll give ya that....They also have a lot more trains and cars and routes you can run on.....
