I used to know of some "trainwatch" sites but i've forgotten them do you know of any and also is there any Demo train sim software out there? Thanks

The only 2 that I know of is Train Dispatcher 2 which can be found here http://www.signalcc.com/train2/td2freeware.html and Train Player which can be found here http://www.trainplayer.com/
