Well today was another good good day to RR fan....And today we wanted to check out the Shawano Sub...This sub runs from Neenah all the way up to Argonne Wi and then it Jct's with the Pembine Sub....So we headed over to Black Creek where the WC crosses the GBW at grade
When we got to Black Creek we heard that the L3233 (The Shawano Turn) is right out side of town...So we set up our gear and shot this shot of him coming into town
We then raced him over to the diamond where he stomped over it and kept on going north
We then caught him crossing State St and after that he just kept on going north
We then went back to the diamond because we heard another horn coming...We thought it was the train up to Gladstone MI but this train had a different horn...We then went back over by the diamond and we looked down the tracks and we seen some lights...This time it was on the GBW...We then went down by this one road to catch the train...Looks like it is Train #1 headed towards Wisconsin Rapids
As he made his way thru town he came past the old GBW depot that still stands
Stomping over the WC diamond Train 1 continues on West towards Rapids
Catching him at one last crossing out side of town we then packed up our gear and went on home
As you can see all is quiet and it is a cool night out...when there is no clouds in the sky boy does she sure get cold out...Winter is in the air
But the sound of silence was soon to be broken by the FDGLA
Making its way thru small towns before coming into Shawano we see him blast pass this crossing...We were happy to see the 3 units on this train...Reason being for having these 3 units on this train is there are a lot of steep grades north of town up to Argonne...It is common to see an SDL39 on these trains as the F45's are another common one to see on this train as well
45 mins lata we caught him coming into Shawano where they were doing a crew change...The new rested crew from Gladston will come aboard and take this train all the way up to Gladstone tonight where the crew from Fond du Lac will go in the office....Fill out some paper work and hop in the van and go off to the motel till tomarrow where the new train called GLFDA will come in the afternoon with the Gladstone crew where they will hop off this train and the new rested crew from Fond du Lac will board this train and take it to Fond du Lac and the Gladstone crew will be off to the motel till the next day and the process starts all over again
With the new crew on board the train departs town and heads north
Racing him to the Wolf River bridge we caught him picking up speed to make the grade up out of the river valley
Last shot of the night...Bell on and making its way up past the last few houses out side of town as the train rolls off into the dark cold night
On another day we will have to catch the local that comes to town the L3233 the Shawano Turn that works from Neenah up to Neopit
