Or did you add a new locomotive or piece of rolling stock, or route, or activity? What has changed?
MSTS can only handle so much stuff before it gives up. Train Store (freeware) helps with that problem. New route having problems which conflict, try Route Riter (freeware). Activity missing something, Route Riter or Conbuilder (payware now) can help you there.
You can always try reinstalling it if nothing else. Anything you added should still be there. If you added any of the bins or changed the original rolling stock, it would revert back though.

It's worked for me 5 times now!
Of all my MSTS experiences, I'm sure this has happened to me at least once, and the way I solved it was to re-install the program. It's a hassle, but it works.
Does your computer have enough "umpf" to run it? I have that problem with TRS 2006, so I upgraded the computer and haven't had a problem since.
Yeah TRS 2006 is the best out there....Go run that one for a while...Ya get to have awsome power :)

Both are available for free on train-sim.com. You may have a wait though unless you subscribe as there have been 3 new routes uploaded in the last week. They tend to draw a lot of activity.
Don't even start with which is better argument (MSTS or Trainz). It has been round and round a bunch of times. Each has its backers. It is like arguing Lionel or American Flyer. Though similar, both games are really different.

Now what happens is that everything is normal right after I click on my shortcut to MSTS, but then when it comes to the "loading" page, it stops loading and the "We're Sorry. Train Simulator has encountered a problem and needs to close" window pops up, every time!! I scanned MSTS for viruses, and ther were no threats found. Any tips on how to solve this problem?
If you havent Defragged your computer in awhile... you might want to do that. Bits of Bytes get lost sometimes causing program errors. If you have, then I would just re-install the game.
