I have a Dell Dimension 2400 Computer. Last week I was trying to reinstall my Mirosoft Train Simulator into my computer and I was rejected,because I was told that I need a "Hardware Acceleration",before I was allowed to install the program since 2001. I used this program before and never had to use such a device,is this some kind of graphics device I need to install on my motherboard or what. Other wise I priced one at CompUSA and I cannot afford to purchase it. So, I guess I will not be able to use my Train Simulator if that is the case.I appreciate any help from someone please. I did some hunting on this system, it is using its onboard video for graphics. How capable this is for 3D graphics I am checking on, but you would be better to install one of the popular 3d vidcards from NVidia or ATI, MSTS should run fine on an NVidia 5500. Visit a local computer store.

price for an inexpensive card can be around 70 bucks and work fine. High end cards run around 200-300 dollars, but it will perform extremely well.

 

it looks like this system was not made for 3D accelleration.

adding a 3D card means it has to use a PCI slot as it has no AGP or PCI-E slot. a PCI vidcard might still be available but you will have to check around.

dinwitty, thank you very much for your help. It looks as if I may have to purchase another computer or find a way to update my Dell Diminsion 2400. I belong to a computer club that I never have time to atteen the monthly meetings,but if I need any help I just get hold of the president of the club. Maybe he can help me that problem too. I also ordered that special you had me look that will help keep my computer from Spotmau and tomorrow is the last day at that reduced price and almost missed it too. I don't think I can afford to pay the three figure cost of that video card but $70.00 may be if as say can find one. Do you by chance of e-mail capabilities if so here is mine as follows:[e-mail].
