Hi everyone:
Recently, my K-Line by Lionel extended vision caboose acquired a few wiring problems. The tiny lamps that go inside the marker lights appear to have broken beyond repair. I was wondering, without replacing the body, if there was a way for me to get replacement lamps for the car or if there was another solution to light the lamps with minimal modification. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, Toytrain1,
I would hope that the Lionel parts department would be able to help you. If not, there are Lionel designated repair shops that would likely be able to repair the caboose's lights.
If you are a tinkerer maybe some small LED's could be placed inside the markers.
Hope this helps, but maybe you had the same thoughts as I have.
I am interested in finding or joining an O gauge community or club in the Metro East area of St. Louis, Mo.
Hi TFCII:
Unfortunately, the Lionel parts department does not have the item. It lists Lima Train Works as having it, but I cannot find it on their website and from what I saw in the pictures you can only purchase the lights as part of the shell, which would be fairly expensive. This situation leads me to believe that service stations would not have the parts either. The trouble with putting in my own LEDs is size. In the picture below, the center lamp is the one that fit inside the caboose's marker lights.. To the left is a standard LED and to the right a typical Lionel 18 volt bulb for size comparison. Thanks for responding, though!
You are welcome. This tells me that if one of my cabooses that is similar to yours has a lighting problem that it will be quite the problem to repair it. I wish you the best in your endeavor.
