What worked for my son was just letting him see someone with their toy train set. He was 15 months old and saw some kids with some battery powered Thomas the Train sets. He's now seven and his playroom is covered with G guage LGB trains and he just loves them. Also, tourist train rides and train museums are great places to visit. Enjoy!
