Greetings other RR fans!
I'm brand new to model rail roading but wanted to get information on the hobby since I seen a buddies layout of HO scale villages and trains, I've known this man for 20 years and didn't know that he had a secret RR room in his cellar, I thought, "Why hide such a wonderful set up in a basement" and he said some folks don't think it normal for a grown man to play with toys" and my reply was, "Those that give up their toys give up a big part of what makes them human".
Now I'm starting a new journey to discover the very wild world of model Rail Roading.
I'm sorry if I don't know the lingo or anything else about the hobby but I do know that I have enjoyed building 1:64 scale buildings for a while now, I just picked this hobby up by accident while laid up from back surgery about 10 years ago, now I'll be able to build these buildings for a reason.
I would build replicas of my friends homes and give them as gifts and I've kept very few for myself but that will soon change.
I will be picking up a crate of HO stuff from my friend that he no longer uses since he went to another smaller scale, he is giving me, about 400 feet of track, 5 locomotives, some where around 40 cars and the power supply and he also said he will have a few Ho scale buildings also.
I can not take all that stuff and not give him something for his troubles and all he asked was the $80.00 gas bill round trip, cool deal!
I hope to get to know some of you here and hopefully learn from the folks here as well.
I'm happy to say that I desire to be a model Rail Roader and I will not hide the fact in some darkened room in a basement, if I could feel such a great joy by looking at some ones mini creation than I think my other friends should have the chance to feel the same.
I've looked at some of the layouts people are doing and I'm in awe!
Hope that I'm welcomed here....now I must see if I can post this.

I'm also a registered tribal member of the Northern Blackfeet, hope you don't hold this against me.

Sounds like you are well on your way to starting out in the world of HO.
You might get more responses if you post this thread in the General Section of the Model Railroader Forum.
In any case for starters look up Space Mouse on the forum he has a great beginner's guide to model railroading that I highly recommend.
Cheers,

Thank you.
I'll post in the general forum next, I wasn't sure where to post my first one so I did it in the test one, I didn't want to catch flack for posting in the wrong one.
I'll look up Space mouse, Thanks!
