I live in Ohio and we have had 3 local hobby shops that have closed in the last 5 years. The main problems are that people are not interested in model trains that much anymore. Also the local hobby shop cant compete with the internet stores.
I'm a G scale outdoor railroader from Lubbock, Tx, 360 miles from Discount Model Train. Drive there 2 or 3 times a year, also mail order from them, they have a great show room also buy from the net. I got my AirWire 900 from them, best thing ever did no more track cleaning.
