Southern's 4501 as she appears today

  • Here are a couple of pictures of my beloved engine I thought the forum might enjoy.

Southern's 4501 in her original black paint.  This is the way the engine appears to day and can be seen in Chattanooga TN.  The engine had to be put back to its original color in order to qualify for Federal funding as a National Historic Artifac.

    Enjoy:

  • Be-u-ti-full, looks like it needs some weathering.

Be patient, a few days in the Chattanooga summer sun will weather it rather well. Enjoy it in pristine paint, as long as it lasts!
  • Thanks for the nice pics of that beautiful little Mike. I've always thought she was a beauty! I was lucky enough to ride behind her on several trips from Richmond to Keysville and Norfolk and one long trip to NC over the original Norfolk Southern shortline back in the 1970's. She could run pretty good on that nice N&W mainline track, too!

    Thanks again,

    Roger

  • Great pics.

  • Did they bring her out of the shed for display? I hope they aren't going to leave it outside in the weather like that.
