  • Humm, this is interesting. I do wonder if this railroad was a subsidy (sp) of  the Philadelphia and Reading or the PRR in later years??

  • Having lived along (more or less) the ROW of the old South Penn, I have always had in interest in the line.
    CSXrules4eva, It was an attempt by Carnegie and other steelmakers in Pittsburgh to break the PRR monopoly on shipments of finished steel out, and raw materials in.
    Southpenn, I have followed your website for years, excellent work!
    My model RR club is building a model of the PW&S, the only portion of the SPRR to have trackage on it.
