Have you seen a P42 whose number matches the train it is powering?

  • On a number of occasions I have seen Amtrak P42 (Dash9 42BPH) 63 on train 63, and then today (9.23.06) P42 48 was trailing on-you guessed it train 48. Has this happened to you like seeing #1 on the westbound Sunset, #2 on it's eastbound counterpart. I could go on, but I think you get the idea.

  • Sniff sniff that can't happen on VIA since their P42's are 900-920 and VIA's trains are only one digit, two digit and their other trains are 600 series.

10000 feet and no dynamics? Today is going to be a good day ...

  • I have seen #20 on train #20 (The Crescent)

  • I think in eastern Canada that VIA does operate some P42DC's with their numbers as passenger train numbers. Not too sure, but check this photo anyway.

  • Nice shot! Having checked VIA's Summer time table/indicaeur (spelled without aid of the time table in question, BUT I can order a beer/biere en Quebecois!) There aren't any 900 series train numbers in VIA's system. But VIA does like to shake things up from time to time.
  • Yeah, though i did'nt take it, lol. I do like that new VIA paint scheme they have on those P42-DC's, and those coaches are actually european, from France i believe, may'be that's why those trains are called (Rennaissance)Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

  • Wow VIA bought some P42DCs. The paint scheme on that train is incredably good!
