Cleaning wheels & tracks?

  • What is the best way to clean model train wheels (locs & cars) and tracks for both N & HO scale? I am new at model railroading (1-1/2 months), and a hobby store expert told me that my trains are running slow & shaky due to carbon buildup.

  • A walthers Bright Boy is good for track,it looks like a large ink eraser.a hobby shop may sell them. For wheels I either dip a Q tip in alcohol and scrub the wheels or put a wet nap napkin on the track and let the locomotive spin its wheels on the napkin. You will get much more replies if you post on the main Model Railroader forum, and welcome tto the forums.
