G.E. Evolution

  • Has anybody seen this monster of a train in action???!!! I just saw it on the Discovery channel as part of that "big machines" show or something. Just wondering if anybody has seen this thing up close or come rolling by. Or, is there a model of it out there? anybody know?

  • Yeah, these locomotives are all over the place. Almost every Class 1 railway has some "GE Evolutions" or "GEVOs". You can find pics of them, just look for ES44AC or ES44DC. (ES40DC for NS)
  • Tower 55, the plastic divison of Overland Models,is making GE Evolutions. First there will be Union Pacifics then BNSFs with other railroads such as CP, CSX and NS to follow. Tower 55 will also be making a few fantasy models in the SP black widow scheme, ATSF blue & yellow and Northern Pacific. Other fantasy schemes may follow. You can find these models at http://www.tower55products.com .If you have a lot more money to spend you can go for an Overland brass one but I feel the Tower 55s are a better buy especially with the DCC sound option. I currently have one of the UP models on reserve. [:)]
  • Brass is always better becasue of the durability. Overland will always be the best.
Tower 55 however, will be very nioce. They need to come out with som passenger cars.

  • Yes the brass models are really nice. I have one of the UP C60ACs with the wings on the front, its one of my favorite models. They are as close to real as they can get, hopefully the Tower 55 models are just as good. From what I can see in the pictures online at Tower55.com they look almost the same. My feeling between the Tower55s and the brass is just based off of the price. The new brass models are going for about nine hundred something at Overland, you can find a Tower 55 one for $269 with sound at a few places. I'm sure you can find a good price on one of the brass models somewhere like I did with my C60AC.
