Connecting MTH RealTrax

Is there an easy way to connect MTH RealTrax? I got this track in a couple of MTH Ready-to-Run sets, but I cannot seem to squeeze the sections together. A dealer suggested that I remove the piece of plastic between the prongs of each connector. I want to be able to take the track apart many times and I'm concerned that this will cause the connectors to break off after continued use. Any suggestions? Or should I just forget about using this stuff and add to my Lionel FasTrack instead?

That's a reoccuring complaint with MTH RealTrax. Trust me, I used to work at a hobby shop that sold quite a bit of MTH. RealTrax is a pain in the rear to get together right out of the box.
I would suggest just trying to muscle it in there. Do not remove anything from the track. After a few times of putting it together and taking it apart, it gets easier. And RealTrax comes apart real easy. Just bend the join down, like you are trying to touch the tops of the rails together.
Yes, it does take quite a bit of patience and muscle to deal with, but once it gets easier, I think you'll be glad you kept the RealTrax. RealTrax is some good track.[:D]

I swear I must have said every curse word out there trying to get the MTH-Realtrax togeather. I spent a solid hour assembling my 4x8 outer loop with 42" curves and a inner figure 8 with 31" curves. But it was possible, albeit, not without cursing and throwing random pieces of track!
