    Noah

You know where I stole this from. Doing a search to find a reference to this, I came upon this. I decided to quote it, as I am still trying to figure out what it was. Can you explain it to me? I started paying attention to the forum when the Coffee Shop(MR) was at 200 or 300 posts.

By the way, that "Teenage Railfan Place" has really taken off. I'm a few years too old to be posting in it. That's why I quoted this on another thread.

    Thanks.

  • How old are you? Thanks for the compliments about our teen forum though[:D]

here is what Noah wrote- DOS- Discontinance of Stars Thread over in the MR forum. To make a long story short, it started out being a meaningful thread about the idea of Discontinuing stars- and it ended up turning into a thread of useless posts. Bergie eventually locked it after a few hundred pages, because it got to the point where people were counting down the number of posts to number 1000.......... I just don't want to see this thread get too far into the useless posts on every page like that thread did, and end up with having it locked.

That is straight from the pages of the teen forum- hope that helps...

Thanks for that, Chris. Sounds like it was almost a peaceful riot!

Fortunately, I was not around here during that time.
  • oh, I did that for the last 10 before my 1000th post, and the last few were just impatient posts trying to get there. As a friend put it "Suburban middle class slacker". And that about sums it up. I was never just doing that for the posts, though.
BTW, if you have something to say over there, it's OK, but just don't llnger.[:D]

  • The second inquiry on this topic inspired me to go find the original post. I guess my memory is worse than I thought; the topic only made it to 47 pages. So now you can read all 47 pages.....:

It's a strange topic, and I feel proud to say I never participated(although I was around the entire time it was open).

The DOS thread is probably the first most famous locked topic. While we are at it, I might as well mentioned the second most famous.

This, is the Never Ending Story, or the NES:

This one made it to 223 before it was padlocked. It was a fun topic while it lasted, you can read the info on it in the first post. I posted a little in this one, and it was fun, it made for a comical story when you strung the words together. But, none the less, the thing had run it's course, and I can see why Bergie Locked it. But I do admire the he stuck to the rules, even in the last post.... [;)]

Hopefully I have enlightened your day at least a little.

  • That second one looked like fun... lol...[:D]
