Is there something out that will show the different between engines ie sd40, sd70 and so on. I would like to be able id the units when watching trains

I learned most of the types through just looking at pictures on Railpictures.net, although I'd like to find something which distinguishes the more subtle differences between locos...eg. SD40-2/SD40-3 , AlcoRS-1, RS-2 etc..

I don't know where you live, but most of the Class One's put identifying marks under the cab window.
