  • I believe it's last half of the 1960's, after Triang bought Hornby, but before they dropped the Triang name.
The loco is the "Red Hall" -- a Great Western Hall locomotive, but painted red instead of green. Lord Westwood was an executive of the company at the time and the number was the factory phone number.
The loco was much despised and derided at the time (like a Santa Fe GG1 or the Lionel Girl's set) and did not sell in great numbers.
I think it is rare, but not uet overly desirable. I could be wrong. It would be a good match for the Hogwarts Express.

  • Just checked (Google Lord Westwood). The loco is 1973 or 1974. Only difference I can find is that 1973 claims "plated wheels". But that may not really be a difference.

  • Thanks, do you have the website where you got the information from - FYI the engine (considering its age) still runs beautifully
  • Will: I used Google. The site was a Hornby/Triang collectors club, but I don't remember which one but possibly modeltrains.net.
I also got a lot of info on Lord Westwood himself.
