SD89MAC

  • What ever became of the SD89MAC. EMD built one, GM 92, but nothing else has been said about it.

  • A little help Please[%-)] but I believe that the design evolved into the SD70M-2.
The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul
  • But the SD89MAC had a 265H engine underthe hood.
  • I think it is the same exact carbody as the SD70ACe though.

  • The SD89MAC was originally designed to be EMD's Tier II locomotive offering. But reliability problems with the 265H set it back so I guess EMD was forced to use the 710 instead. Its basically a 12 cylinder version of the SD90MAC-H II. The SD70ACe and SD70M-2, although 6 feet shorter, share the same style carbody as the SD89MAC and SD90MAC-H II.
