Hannibal and St Joe Railroad

  • Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone has photos or drawings of cars or engines that belonged to the Hannibal and St Joe Railroad?? First of all I don't really know for sure if there was a railroad by that name and if that is the case then please let me know. Either way, I would like as much information about the Hannibal and St Joe railroad as I can get.

    Thanks,
    David Cook/railroadnut

  • The Hannibal & St. Joe operated between the two cities mentioned and became one of the foundations of the Chicago Burlington & Quincy (CB&Q). The one other interesting note on the Hannibal & St. Joseph is they built and operated the first Railway Post Office Car where mail could actually be sorted in route. Hope this helps
  • A good place to start would be "Burlington Route", by Richard Overton. This is probably the definitive history of the CB&Q and includes a good general history of the Hannibal and St. Joseph and how it became part of the Burlington.
The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul
  • Also if you want to see an actual piece of rolling stock from that road. Check out teh Silver Creek and Stepehnson in Freeport Il. We have a caboose of theirs and it runs on every train still.

Yes we are on time but this is yesterdays train
