Digital Cameras - Any Without the Shutter Release Delay?

[:(!] My SLR camera is on the fritz, and I have not yet sprung for a digital camera. Are there any out there that SNAP! take the picture when you press the shutter, instead of waiting for that annoying 1/2-second delay?

I can sympathize. My Olympus C-4040 has an intolerable and annoying delay that makes it extremely difficult or impossible to photograph fast changing subjects (such as an approaching train). At best, you can only anticipate where the train will be in the length of time that your experience tells you the delay will be, but that is an imprecise and clumsy way to photograph fast moving objects. None of the small "point and shoot" digital cameras are without the delay. You have to move up into the more expensive SLR category of digital cameras to escape that. My Fujicolor S-1 Pro has no more delay than a regular Nikon camera, or any common film SLR. I'm told that the newer digital SLRs offered by other brands (Nikon, Canon, etc.) also have no or negligible delay. You might want to visit a large camera store that carries the Nikon D-100 or similar to see if you can find something there that you like. Affordability is a different matter. [:X]

The Canon Digital Rebel and the Nikon D70 are both said to have little if any shutter delay. The Nikon is supposed to be the better of the two cameras, but it costs a little more, too. Both are offered with rebates, so the prices are pretty good. If you want to go digital, the time may be right. I have two camera, one is a Pentex 3.3mg and the other is a Fugi S3100 (4.0mg). Both have the delay and both also have what is known as sport shoting. In this mode, there is no delay and you can do up to 3 shot in a row, the down side is in this mode, there also eliminates the flash.

I would say go wit the digital rebel. I have the film rebel and i love it, Its simple to use and has many nice features, the film runs about $200 however, the digital rebel runs about $1000. Both are avalible at Wal*Mart (which is false advertising becasue they dont sell walls [:)] )
