New guy needs help

  • I'm new to trains and I'm looking for a train to run around the tree a christmas. I've been looking a Bachmann and LGB in G gauge. I don't want to buy a cheap train would like it to last and beable to add to and get parts for.

    Thanks for any help Steve

  • Stick with the LGB then. Designed to be rugged and last. Pricey due to being imported but well worth it on the long run.
  • If you sick w/ the LGB you might end up starting your own personal train layout. Watch out you'll get hooked and you'll end up spending most of your money on rail related items. That can be expensive sometimes.

  • LGB is a hearty breed, though most of their rolling stock is modeled after stuff from the other side of the pond, but a trains a train, right?

All my LGB rolling stock and locomotives are still operational from 10 plus years ago.
