Short circuit on new sound decoder

  • I installed a new sound decoder board on an Atlas GP 38 and as soon as I powered up the power cab I got a message saying short circuit detected. I ruled out the track because another loco worked fine. What I didn’t do was put electrical tape between the decoder and motor. Anyway I tried the same decoder on another loco and nothing happened. I’m guessing that I burned up the decoder. So if I order another I’m hoping the same won’t happen again if I do isolate the motor. Any other suggestions?

  • Welcome. Sigh. Right above this forum it says this is not the Model Railroader Forum.

Notice how little action there is here. Many new people post here.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.

  • Ok sorry
