Errors in Under Seige Two

[:)]this movie rocked! It was filmed on Techachappi pass![:0]But wait!The train had errors!
1.When the "Nevada Petrol Express"is first shown we see that in the lead is an ESPEE SD40M-2,then an SD40T-2,SD45T-2,and an SD45(SD40M-2).But then during the Wreck the trains(which are toys)are all tunnel motors!And they all have NO noselights!!! And have the factory installed headlight between the number boards still. I Saw the last unit was an SD45 and then during the toy train wreck it is a tunnel motor!It was numbered 8687 which is an SD40M-2 in an SD40 shell!
Not even close to the consist they had shown earlier as the petrol express! I guess an SD40T-2 is close enough to an SD40.But couldnt they have used an SD40/SD40-2 and just painted it as 8687?
2.The lead unit is a GP20 with ALCO trucks and a GP35 syle cab and still is with a GP20 style low hood.
3.The second unit was still in its as built form.But it was an ex.NYC/Mo-Pac GP20 by the looks of it still had a non dynamic brake section but has a fan added!!!![:D]
4.By the way the passenger train the Grand Conteinental was a toy and was already derailed by the time the crash happened.The one that was used before the stealth bomber blows up is a real train.
5.The lead unit is a tunnel motor numbered 8667.8667?!THATS AN SD45/SD40M-2!
[?]Would anyone happen to know what happened to the real locomotives from the passenger train after the movie?And could anyone share some photos?

SOMTHING IS WRONG HERE!!! First of all shouldnt the Nevada Petrol Express
have more locos than the shorter Delta South Ammonia? And if it needs more loco's then shouldnt the delta south ammonia have more cars and gallons of ammonia than the Petrol Express?

Oh boy, if you're going to start picking apart movies like that, you better get a big pad of paper for notes. :-) When they create all that stuff, they figure there's only going to be a small amount of people that will catch details like that. It's rare they will spend the money it would take to make sure every technical detail is correct, so that small minority of people will be happy. Plus, there's often times where the things in real life just don't play well on screen. I good example would be the exploding car crash, or the famous "Chips" car roll, where they would have the car hit a ramp in back of the stopped car, so it would go flipping over top of it in grand fashion. A normal car crash on film is pretty boring.

But as far as continuity issues go... That's just one group of people not talking to another group of people... And probably the fact that they didn't want to spend money on a good consultant. Or if they did, they ignored him, which also happens.

I figure about .01% of the pople that watched the movie caught the same errors that you did.

No need to get so technical when looking for errors, I was watching "Cruel Intentions" on TV the other night, and there was a scene where two girls were talking.

They were using two cameras, on one view the girl had her hair tucked behind her ear, and on the other view it wasn't, so every time they switched camera angles here hair was either tucked or not tucked, and it kept going back and forth like that.

Pretty funny to see, I was surpirsed nobody caught it.

its hollywoods movie magic....and they never get it 100% right....best thing to do is just injoy the movie for what it is...entertainment....

I have always enjoyed the scene where they set up the antennas in the passenger car to communicate with the satellite. As a former trucker who knows qualcomm tends to be blocked when you are inside a shop with a metal roof... I have always fell over laughing on that scene.

"The X Files" had BCRR units all over Roanoke, Va.

Boss Hog from Dukes of Hazard almost got nailed by SP 4449 in Hazard County.

The movie "A League of Their Own" had a couple train scenes. And AFAIC they nailed it!

Forget all of that foaming locomotive nonsense, they all look the same to 99.99999999% of the general public.

To me, the most glaring act of Hollywood railroad license come when Steven Segal slides open a window, and climbs out, and then pops open a grill, and climbs back in.

Unfrtunately they didn't have a technical consultant for the railroad portion of that movie.

Under Seige 2 isn't exactly what you'd call an accurate portrayal of railroading (boy, that's an understatement). However, when you consider how completely far-fetched and unbeliveable everything else in the movie is, the train scenes don't seem too bad. I must admit, though, I love the paint scheme on thetrain in that movie.

Unfortunately, Hollywood usually doesn't care a whole lot about things like this. If you think that there are a lot of errors here, check out Runaway Train. Or better yet, find a copy of Atomic Train. Atomic Train is so awful that it makes Under Seige 2 look like a perfect, error-free documentary about railroading! I won't elaborate further on this, but take my word for it that Atomic Train has to be seen to be believed.

One of my favorite movie screw ups (although not a railroad related one) is in the oldhorror movie "The Amazing Collosal Man" in which the monstor picks up a Chevy and throws down a Nash (how many of you out there are old enough to remember the Nash)?

Quiz time: Which famous TV character also drove a Nash Rambler in the show (hint, SHE was a reporter for a newspaper)?

CR could have gotten into texas if they were sucessful at purchasing some of the ESPEE lines there!!!!![:D]
Who knows the BCRR units look kind a like what you see on CSX/NS in VA(ie.Those ex.BCR HLCX's)
oh and the Grand continental (GC) was pulled by ex.ARR units...

It got even worse...Mulder runs out of a shopping mall in Georgetown (suburban DC), turns a corner down the street, and there, on a tall wall behind him (this was a long shot) appears that icon of the Washington DC skyline, a big electric sign proclaiming "VIA Rail" in huge yellow letters!
