I just got back from a couple of weeks in California following my son's wedding (never thought that would happen!!)  Anyway, we visited the Western Pacific Railroad Museum in Portola, California.  Tiny town of about 2,400 but with a great museum!  And.....I got to drive a WP F-7 for an hour!!!!!!!!!!
The problem is that the town of Portola has had to withdraw support and the museum may not survive.  They need our help badly.  Here is a link to the site...http://www.wplives.org/ral.html
Contributions would be gladly accepted but better yet, go there.  Theye have  a number of locos, cabooses and freight cars you can climb over, under, around and thru.  All volunteer staff.  You can go there and spend a week or more and work on restoring a loco or freight car.  I even got to climb around a UP loco that is in service but parked in their yard.  Great time.  Let's give them a hand.
