Trying to sell a boxcar

  • We have a Santa Fe railroad boxcar (circa ~1937, we think) in our backyard. It is an icecar in mint condition - solid cedar walls, fans, etc. Does anyone have any idea how we can sell it?

  • Wow, that's not something that just anyone will want to buy. The cost to move it may be more than the sale price. If you can find someone in your area, you may have the best luck. eBay?
  • E bay is an option. I would tend to think that the market will be extremely limited however. Cabeese have windows and make good cabins, etc. Yours is just a big box. You might try one of the car rebuilders or an auction house. Donation to a museum that wants ATSF equipment subject to them moving it may be the best choice.
  • May try your local Historical Socitey. Again with the same contition, that they pay for the move.
