Are there any inexpensive models?

  • Hi,

I am just looking for some display models. They don't have to actually operate.

What I have found so far cost near $1000! A bit steep for something to dress up the mantel over the fireplace!

    Thanks for any help!

  • Sure there are. try E bay, garage sales, hobby shops and look for basically junk or stuff with missing or damaged parts. Then you search for more junk and you cobble it all together into a complete engine or car. I have 28 HO GG1's because I am modeling the PRR in Philadelphia. My average cost per GG1 is $19.00 because I only by the junk ones and put them together. The other plus is I have more spare parts then I can ever use.
  • Try IHC they have alot of inexpensive models from locos to passenger cars.
  • thier are ones that arent expensive..but the cheeper you go down the latter...the less qulity ...

  • If you just want a display model, there are some plastic model kits of trains that are intended just for display. I'm not really up on what all there is/was, but I know that they're out there.
