When I use IE to read the site everything is fine until I try to enter the forums. It crashes. Not having that problem with Firefox. The expected response is not acceptable, thanks anyway. Solution for IE preferred.
I know that IE-9 has a feature known as "Compatibility Mode" and I THINK it was introduced in IE-8. Look for an icon in the control bar at the top next to the text box where you type new URL's. In IE-9 it looks like a torn piece of paper... well... it looks like two mountain ranges in a picture frame to me! Anyway, click on it and the page should refresh and from then on (unless you click the icon again) all of the trains dot com web site should be treated in Compatibility Mode.
I am not sure if this is your problem in IE-8 but in IE-9 the forums seem to work until you try to post a message and then it just throws away the text of the message and won't post anything. MAYBE IE-8 has some similar problem that Compatibility Mode will cure for you.
I hope this is some help to you and does not lead you down the garden path to the confusion flowers.

This is not the first time I have heard people having issues with IE8 and it's been with other forums as well. Some of the things I have research to help some seem to point to IE8 plug-ins being the issue.
