  • I think Pa, especially Altoona.[:D]
  • I also say Pennsylvania. BTW, the island state is spelled Hawaii, where I doubt there are many trains.[:D]

  • The Vancouver WA. Amtrak station is an excellent place to watch trains. There is a LOT of action here. Also, there are many places along the Colombia River Gorge to watch trains.[:)][:)][:)]
Ride Amtrak. Cats Rule, Dogs Drool.
  • I have to agree with Pennsylvania. They've got horeshoe curve and altoona, along with many others
  • I'm gonna have to go with Pennsylvania, also. Let's see, there's Altoona, Horseshoe Curve, Gallitzin, Tunnel Hill (just to name a few, there are so many!) and we can't forget the infamous Sand Patch!
  • i voted for NY. great trains, with even greater scenery
  • Tehachapi, Cajon, Surf Line, Coast Line, Mt. Shasta, Donner, San Joaquin Valley, Sacramento RR Museum, and all the other train watching spots in California need I say more.
  • Other than Illinois, it is hard to compete with Fostoria in Ohio. Other cool places in Ohio include Willard, Deshler, Berea, Greenwich, Attica and Marion.

  • Hey junctionfan, are u from Ohio, because if you are have you been to Defiance I may be 10 but Defiance is an awsome place to watch trains because the Maumee and Western, the CSX(former Conrail)Chicago line goes thru there.
By the way CONRAIL WILL RULE FOREVER, NOT THE STUPID HORSE LINE NS. THEY are more like a donkey, a Jack[censored].

You know what i mean i hope.

  • Pennsylvania, more shortlines, regionals, and tourist railroads than any other state, PA has great places like Horseshoe Curve, Altoona, Rockville, Enola, Cresson, Gallitzin, Cassadra, Port Clinton, Macungie, Sand Patch, Northeast Corrider, Steamtown, Strasburg, ect.

I'm from Ontario actually, but I have never heard of Defiance as a railfaning place. Thank you for letting me know about it. I don't why I have not heard about it though[%-)] I must say CSX/Conrail action is dabomb. NS is o.k but they don't run as much interesting trains as CSX does.

  • Ohio all the way. It's also my home state. Pa. is my second choice. Nothing beats a day of sitting at horseshoe curve. I'll be there in two weeks and I can't wait.
