Favorite locomotive

  • My favorite is a RS11 because in Northern New Jersey you dont see to much of them. Luckly M&E got a few from Erie Mining.

Jethro Tull is better cause they did Locomotive Breath. And back to the poll, I feel that the SD-40 is probably the most reliable locomotive still in service. [:D]
  • "No way to slow down!" I think more about the SD-7(9,etc.), followed closely by the SD40, both quick to load, plenty of motors, even though the only SD9 I ever saw, was pulling local coach service, in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1980. Whilst picking up an onion backhaul, trucking for Florida Tile, I heard a horn sound, and low-&-behold, the local properly stopped at the depot, and gracefully eased out of town. I think the town was Glendale, NW Phoenix. Only two roads in the south even had the SD7-9's, The Central of Georgia, and the Bay Line(in Florida's panhandle). It wasn't because of lightweight rail, the SD7 had the same axle-weight as a GP7, however some turnouts, had to short of radius in the frog area, and bridge restrictions did apply. Past those engines, it's difficult to pick from such a list, as above. ALco's, Baldwin's, FM, they all have entertained myself, and still do, and I've got tee shirts to prove it! Been 'a long time crossin, bridge of sighs. acj

What?... None of your posts make any sense. If you have nothing worthwhile to contribute, then don't contribute at all.
  • The Canadian Pacific Hudsons....

    Nothing beats live steam!
  • The EMD SD70MAC.
  • SD40-2 Love the looks of the rear truck extending out past the hood!!
  • My favorite locomotive is SP FP7,6449 because I had a cab ride in it once.
The FL9 is a really cool engine because it operates on third rail as well as diesel power.
Ride Amtrak. Cats Rule, Dogs Drool.
  • I have tons of favorit locomotives. I like the SD90MACH II, and the SD80MAC are the top of my lists. When it comes to steam my favorit is the Allegeheny 2-6-6-6, and the Lima's 614 C&O.

The reason why I like the SD90MACH II is for the diesel enigne under the hood the V16265H engine. Becides the Cummins ISX engine it's one of my favorit diesel engines.like the 710G3ES thats under the hood of the SD80MAC, it;s preformace is phonaminal. I think.
