Home Made derailer?

  • Does anyone have the plans for a home made derailer that I could make from the usual stuff around the layout or bench work area. Or do you know of a previous issue of MR that may have a derailer project in it.  I have a logging siding that has two cars on it that has a slight slope and I want a derailer to stop the two cars from fouling the mainline.

  • An actual derail or just a car stop? Does it have to work? The September issue of Model Railroader (I think) has an article on building one for stopping cars, not derailing them. I try to keep my trains ON the tracks enough, so I don't know any good ways of purposefully derailing them...

  • I agree with what Tyler said. If you would like more help, I'd reccomend posting in the Model Railroader Forums, since those get much more traffic.

  • Not sure how I jumped over to this forum when I logged in under MR forum. I will watch more closely next time.

    Thanks.
