I was by Homewood Il. Today Saturday 05-17-08
Here are some shots of C.N yard.
I drove up on Ridge Road. That leads directly to the Main East Truck entrance on a Motor scooter. I stopped on the ramp. I was outside of the "NO Trespassing" sign. My Camera lens was just outside of the sign.
I spotted the Private Cars and shot them. Then I seen the E-9 units. I shot them. I.C 101 E-9 was in the lead with 100 trailing with inspection car 800653.
A white pick-up truck passed by me going in.
After a couple of shots of the E-9 units. I seen a Geep and a Calf heading pass it on the next closer track. I looked up and seen the white truck turning around. I took a quick couple of more shots of the E-9 units.
I figured that was going to be the end of my shooting. It was. As I looked over my camera. I seen the fireman or Yard man locking down the Geep's hand break. Right in the middle of the E-9 a Unit and half of the Private cars behind the other E unit.
The white truck driver stopped and asked what I was doing.
I just said, "I happen to seen those beautiful E units and had to stop." Then I seen the Private cars.
He said he did not know why the cars and E units came in yeasterday.
I mentioned about the Railroad Days. He said probably so. We talked a bit more.
He slapped me on the Arm and said, "Have a good day." Then drove off.
When I arrived at the City Hall and Fire Station. I found out Sunday is the RR Day.
That made me mad. I could have gone to Franklyn Park IL. for there show Saturday the 17.
I returned Sunday May 18 to Homewood IL. Station. I got to watch several (Videoed) switching movements of two GE units with a slug in-between.
The Weather was not as nice as Saturday. It was very windy and cooler.
They were suppost to bring the I.C. E-9s and the private car out 3 hours earlier.
I had to find a cup of coffee. I returned to find the E- units spotted. They used a Geep to power the unit out.
I found out that a Steam engine was in Union station. I drove downtown. I took a lot of shots before finding out my camera settings changed and lost a lot.
I found Milw RD. 261 sandwiched between lines of commutter cars. It was to dark to get the cars. They were in two different paint schemes. ONLY One car had "Chicago Joliet" in gold lettering on the East track.
They had about 300 MOVIE extras filling the RR cars.
I found a good spot to Video 261 move. They made several in and out movements.
I really got to hand it to the Engineer. He could really make that engine and train creep.
Thanks for posting these nice pictures Spike!
