Statistic requested regarding the MR hobby

  • I have three days to throw together a half-hour Powerpoint presentation on Model Railroading.  I want to include a slide that ranks the common scales in popularity, and gives some rough numbers as to how many persons (or what percentage of the hobby community) participate in said scale.  I am thinking I have seen such statistics before but do not remember when or where.  Anybody have any ideas where I might come up with such data?

I have figured out what is wrong with my brain!  On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!

  • Maybe the numbers of users presented here in the home page of this forum with all the different scales will give you a percentage.

Keep in mind MANY people have several scales inside the same home. Crossing O gauge all the way to N without any trouble in the same room.

  • Kalmbach takes that kind if survey or did.  Not used if they release that information in MR.   That being said are you going to try and convince me whoever asked for this only gave you three days to, "throw together" a half hour presentation.
  • Hey, being able to compare different sets of data never hurts, even if you can't get one answer that agrees across your different sources.
