NJ NY PA DE CT Area Rail Network Improvement and Services

  • According to my calculations the Trenton to Camden rail line in what is now the NJT's Riverline can handle traditional railroad equipment coaches: i.e. 85ft long coaches. If that is the case, can't NJT's Atlantic City Rail Line operations diverge some trains comming or going to Atlantic City, to branch in or out from the Atlantic City rail line at Camden, where the Atlantic City Rail Line crosses over NJT's River Line. When Penn Station NYC had 3rd rail running from Penn Station to Newark Penn Station circa 1910, did LIRR trains ever run to Newark? I wonder. Septa cant run into NYC "thus technicaly possible" while NJT cant run into Phili because of state and traffic issues. There were the the Clockers, NY Phili Shuttles wich were actually a commuter service. The Clockers probably used MP54's too. There are many places not coverd by commuter rail service i.e. NYC Penn Station to New Rochalle. Some Metro North trains should be routed to Penn Station with new station stops from New Rochalle to Penn Station. There should also be introductory long distance continous commute-passenger "compassenger" services with stops like Rahway NJ: i.e Phili to Ronkonkoma, Long Island, Long Branch, NJ to Great Neck Long Island, New Haven CT, to Paoli PA Raritain, NJ to Far Rockaway Long Island, using existing Metro North's M-7 MU's with a new logo name and stripe color i.e red blue black instead of the New Haven's red strpe scheme. With the LIRR's east side project there should be a north track connection to link up with Metro North's Harlem bond tracks. i.e "next station stop Jamaica Ave followed by Harlem 125th street. Therefore trains would be able to run from Ronkonkoma, L.I. to Wassaic, NY

    Third rail never went to Newark.  It went to an intermediate stop called Manhattan Transfer who's sole purpose was to allow the switch from electric to steam.  MT was in the middle of the meadows (probably on purpose) even though it had full length rasied platforms. 

    What  benefit do you get going to Camden other than getting rocked or graffitied?  Until it is something other then the worst ghetto in the east isn't better to avoid it?
