I can't believe its been 10 years since these great trains were cut, hopefully we'll see their return in the coming years as Amtrak tries to move forward into the 21st century . . . . . .

It will especially be a good day to see train 25/26 in front of multnomah falls again. . . . probably one of Amtrak's most scenic routes.. . . .

With a debt that Donald Trump couldn't pay off, I highly doubt that Amtrak will ever return these trains to service. If anything we should be talkin bout which one will be next!

I rode the Desert Wind alot of times with my Family to Las Vegas and to LA alot in the Sleeping Car. I miss that train very much, that was One of Amtrak Best train of the 90s the Desert Wind. Both the Desert Wind and Pioneer should ever been Cut in 1997 with that Dumb Report from the company. In the 90s Amtrak Cut alot of Great Trains like 35&36,25&26,60&61,Former Broadway Limited 40&41 Full Service replace with 40&41 the Three Rivers and Cut back on the Florida trains 18 Cars long and Now in 2007 10 Cars long. I could go on and on about trains, But in the 90s that when amtrak was running great services and amtrak had brains back then in 90s.

It's not the most important thing, but something I miss about the Desert Wind is the ride through Meadow Valley, Nevada, (north of Las Vegas) and Afton Canyon, California, (north of Barstow). 

Those aren't two of the most famous spots for train-riding scenery in the U.S., but they're both a treat.  Access by motor vehicle is not a snap--4WD highly recommended!

The 90s was great period for Running great trains and services on Amtrak. Them was the Good old days of 90s.

When will the American Government reallize that (in the US) passenger railroading is two pokes of a stick away from being dead! Amtrak loses more more money than it could ever hope to gain. They need to pull the plug.
