I work for the UP in Iowa, and the UP has had some interest in that line from west of Denison to CB, but if the BNSF gets ahold of it, they won't need it and they won't let the UP have it, so I think it would be scrapped.

Get ready folks! There has been VERY serious talk lately on a UP/CSXT merger. Been seeing ALOT of CSX Locos on UP trains lately. Could this be a sign?? UP also talking about 30% more rail traffic between N Platte and chicago. Another sign?? Hmmm.

I wouldn't find it terribly surprising for the final two US railroads to be the CN and CP.

I didn't vote because there wasn't a "no mergers will take place" option. Talk your heads off, but there won't be any mergers, devourings, assimilations or otherwise on the part of any of these roads. All that activity will be exclusive to short line empires and my cousin's marriage status.

Have a friend who works for BNSF Northwest division and said he was told this morning by his dispatcher that they were peeling the front off of the NOC building due to repainting. It seems ]Matt Rose took a trip to New York this morning to announce the merger of the BNSF]and the NS. Will still be BNSF but will not be Burlington Northern Santa Fe.
