HO scale Electric Furnace

  • Hi everyone,

I'm new here on this trains website, so please bear with me. I'm starting to model "The Works" by Walthers and I'm having difficulty locating and obtaining an Electric Furnace (it's the last piece I need for "The Works") If anyone has one available to sell, or knows of any hobby shop that has one for sale (unbuilt and preferably still sealed in box) please let me know. Thanks much.

  • Depending on the level of detail you want one is easily scratchbuilt.  The furnace itself is on the second level so it can pour into the ladles.  The roof would have either a half or full monitor to create an updraft and most likely would be sided with corrugated sheets painted the color of the mill.  Ancilary areas might be a scrap station, maintenance area and some duct work to a polution control device ( either a wet scrubber, bag house or possibly an electrostatic precipitator).  If all you want is the building it might be an easy first scratchbuild project and it would fit your area perfectly since you could make it fit any dimension.
  • Try ebay....I've found most of what I look for on there.

  • Hi,

thanks for the info. I think I'll keep looking for the kit if it's still available. However, if I can't find it, I'll try my hand at scratchbuilding it.

  • Hi, Ebay was the first thought. Can't find anything with HO scale Electric Furnaces, even hot metal cars, or slag cars =-(  I was hoping maybe someone out their knew of a hobby store (or even a friend) who has an electric furnace they were looking to sell.
