I'll be waiting for the shots Noah! James, nice lookin TCW unit, saw that one a few days ago. Only thing that I would change would be the numbers on the cab, they look a little bit crooked. But a nice looking unit all in all!

I haven't even started downloading the DMIR photos yet, but I started with getting caught up with photos from just before vacation that I'd yet to edit and upload to the 'net. For the sake of saving people from having to load the photos all on this page, I'll just post links Starting with July 8, various photos from the UP Adams line, Wisconsin Dells, and Portage:
UP MBUVP on the Adams Line:
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/WSOR_3807/IMG_2851.jpg CP train 497 with a heck of an awesome SOO consist!http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/WSOR_3807/IMG_2865.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/WSOR_3807/IMG_2868.jpg Coal train power being refueled in the yard at Portage: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/WSOR_3807/IMG_2872.jpg A 6 hour late Eastbound Empire Builder at Lewiston: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/WSOR_3807/IMG_2878copy.jpg I tried a blur shot with the Eastbound Empire builder, which was running right on time.http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/WSOR_3807/IMG_2893.jpg The purpose of going out that day was to go after a local CP train that runs down a branch from Madison to Portage. He runs late in the day, so Summer is the only time you can catch him in sunlight. And lately he's even had three SOO GP38s, mainly due to the pipe loads that can be seen in the train (there are over 250 cars of pipe that have been slowly trickling through to the Wisconsin and Southern railroad for unloading.) Unfortunately it had kind of clouded over, but it was just hazy clouds, so there was still some weak sunlight on him. At 10MPH he wasn't a hard chase either. This shot is just south of Portage along the swamps: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/WSOR_3807/IMG_2907.jpg Next shot was south of the power plant near Portage, just North of MP 8: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/WSOR_3807/IMG_2919.jpg Rolling through Poynette: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/WSOR_3807/IMG_2931.jpg At Arlington they stopped to switch a co-op, and so they cut off light power, allowing me to get this shot: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/WSOR_3807/IMG_2945.jpg With that the sun finally started to go under thicker clouds , so we set up for one last shot at Goose Pond. I just kind of like the hazy cloud and sun effect, even though it's nothing extra spectactular as a actual sunset would have been: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/WSOR_3807/IMG_2970.jpg The next set of shots is from last Friday the 13 of July (which turned out to be pretty lucky for me). My Dad took the day off and was willing to do a little railfanning, so I set off to do the one shot I've been meaning to do in Wisconin Dells, where the CP crosses the Wisconsin River Bridge. The light is best in the mornings in summer, but I hadn't had a chance to shoot a train there before. This day though I caught three trains in about an hour and a half: Train 484: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/WSOR_3807/IMG_2977copy.jpg 738: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/WSOR_3807/IMG_2985copy.jpg And 199: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p89/WSOR_3807/IMG_2987copy.jpg
Enjoy! And now that I've got those out of the way, the DMIR shots should be coming soon...Noah
Nice pics Noah! Those locomotives look so familiar to the ones I saw in Winona. But they weren't.

Noah, I'm impressed! There are some really great shots there. My favorite is definitely the SOO from far away with the sunset in the background, that is AMAZING!
For the shot of the Amtrak (The Builder?) was there any way you could have gotten those hay bales more into the picture? They kind of bug me being on the edge of the frame like that...
This morning I got up early to go fanning, and what did I find but a thunderstorm when clear skies had been forecast! That's two days in a row that's happened! I'm getting disillusioned....
Go here for my rail shots! http://www.railpictures.net/showphotos.php?userid=9296

Glad you guys liked them.
Matt, had I had about 30 more seconds, I would have walked a little bit further back down the road to get the hay bales more central in the picture. But as it was I had to run a little bit to have enough time to frame my shot and choose an exposure, as the train (which was the Builder) was only a few thousand feet away by the time we stopped and I noticed that the hay bales that would've made a nice foreground. I've got to get back and do this shot in the late morning some time...
Don't you hate weatherliars? Of course, sometimes it's a good thing they're wrong, as you'll end up with a mostly sunny day when they predicted clouds, but most of the time it's the other way around...

That's a good game, but I prefer Call Of Duty 3 for XBOX360 Live.

Matt, I agree with you. Noah, that is really an amazing shot.
Well, I finally got a shot even arpy can't refuse....
The light was perfect to disguise the noise and the autofocus managed to work (on the second try, other pictures of this train was completely out of focus) but the light was near perfect! (Maybe a little too close to NW..)

im really excited starting monday NMRA COMES TO DETROIT! w00t! im going to the national show there are comersials for it on the history chanell allready. anyone gone to the national show?
Nice shot Matt. I always like late evening (or early morning) light, makes for some sweet photos.
I went to the NMRA convention last year, but not this year. No other real reason to go to Detroit, where as last year (when it was in Philly) we put it together with a family vacation to Washington D.C. and Baltimore.
