It does look a tad bit grainy, but not too bad. It is the sort of things rp.net would reject though, as they usually don't like graininess (if that's a adjective...). Got to love the power though! The 6004 was the WC SD40-2 I caught at Byron a little over 6 months ago:

Is the photo you posted the largest size you can shoot at, or did you resize it some?
I've been told most of the time using built in sharpness isn't a great idea. Usually if you want to sharpen the image, it's better to do it after the image has been loaded into a comptuer in a photo editing program.

I'm planning to redo the second reject, in fact I already have, I've changed the colours a bit as well so they don't seem quite so...weird....
My WC SD40 was 6002 I don't fit in!

Nice shot of 6002 Trainboy, I like the shots at point to Brent. To bad you couldn't get more WC.
Ok, I'm getting Photo shop and going to fix up the photo of 6004. Now James said I should sharpin' up the photo to get rid of the grainy look. But the RP screeners also said it was blurry. So is there a program on Photo Shop that can fix that? or is there another way to fix it? Also, if there is any thing else I can do to make the pic better please tell me. And tell me how to do it on Photo Shop.
Which version of photoshop are you getting? The genuine Adobe photoshop (of which there are three levels, Elements, lightroom, and Creative Suite) or one of the knock-offs?
I don't think sharpening the photo will help too much with grain. If anything it should just accent it, or make it stick out more. I tried running it through a noise reduction plug-in I have on my version of Adobe Elements, but it really didn't make a difference. Sharpening didn't help really either. About the only thing I did that seemed to help was reduce the contrast so that the photo wasn't as bright, but it's not enough of a difference to bother uploading. No matter what I tried I just can't seem to get around the poor image quality of the photo, it's still slightly grainy. Of course, I'm not working with the original though either. Sorry, I guess I really can't be of too much help in the end.
I think it's Elements, Not A knock off version. Any way I'll give it a shot. If it dosn't work, well, then I can't do much about it.
i really wish that GTW was still around i miss the blue and red locos in the yard. the only one thats left in the yard is a gp38, but its in bad shape.
i havent been out much lately its cruse night tonight and my dad and I are going out in the corvette. i know that im a ford guy but my mom wanted a corvette all her life so she got a red 94 from my grandpa.( ill tolarate it ) lol

Man, the GTW's paint scheme has been one of my favorites for years!
Today I fanned 2816...it didn't go too well...missed it at Johnston Creek and my camera's dying!
Well, have some pics. All except for one got rejected. The usual crap...

Sigh.
My autofocus is half dead...
My sensor seems to be giving out...
...Kill me now.
Oh, and Brent, for my sake, could you post pictures 1280x1024 or smaller? My internet and patience can't stand loading a bunch of images that big every time I come here!
Nice pics there. Man RP is really picky, those look great!
Any way I thought about this for what's wrong with my pic. I think it might be compressed a little and that's why it's grainy. If I can make the compression lower and the the pic sharper, would it work? idk much about photo editing so.....just a thought.
Some how ditch lights on a steam locomotive just seem wrong...
Boy Matt, you sure do take some decent pictures, even with a dying camera. I don't know if shooting the 2816 down here in a little over a month will be quite the same without the mountains. In the background.
It's too bad to hear your camera's dying too. You didn't buy that thing all that long ago, did you? Perhaps the camera just hadn't been truely "railfan tested" before....
WCfan, I'm curious now. Can you either post or email me the original file? I'd be curious to work with the original and see how that works...
Yeah I'll send it to ya. Just give me your email address so I can send you the original (not photo Bucket) photo.
Good evening...err, morning!
Lots of great discussion has gone on since I left! Although, I must ask (beg) that we not argue about music.....
Anyway, I said that I would be gone on a trip, and I have returned, so expect some shots from Colorado and Arizona tourist RRs and other stuff in the next few days.

Sounds good. Check your email, I sent you an email through the forum. If you reply to that you should be able to attach a photo to it.
Good to see you back Chris. We eagerly await your photos!
