Has anyone ever seen those Connecticut Metro P42DC's in old "New Haven" black, white and red. I think that is one of the nicest liveries for a new locomotive.

I have seen them when they were en route from Erie to Croton-Harmon, and when they went back and forth for warranty work! And, needless to say they are very indeed! Now, I think they got the bugs out, since Spamtrak trusts theirs on the "Maple Leaf" up to TO! They look best on the Danbury branch, where the surroundings haven't changed much since the 60's. (or, perhaps earlier!)

I hate to be a nitpicker, but they're actually P32's, and they were purchased by Amtrak, Metro North and ConnDOT.  The MN and CDOT P32's operate in a common pool for the various Metro North lines, so they can turn up on any of the lines.  MN and NJ Transit have a similar power pool arrangement to cover "West of Hudson" operations out of Hoboken.

I'm a Canuck, so all i know is the VIA P42DC's. I guess the P32 is common to the U.S, i know of a dual-mode P somethin or other?

Those engines are P32AC-DM's.  Some fans, and I think the rails (don't know for sure) call them Gennies, short for Genesis Series. 

There were three types of engines in the Genesis Series, the AMD103 (aka Dash8-40PB, called P40s by fans), the P32AC-DM and the P42DC. I think I read somewhere that the AMD103's were being rebuilt into P42DC specs.

The P32AC-DM's are the dual mode units.
