Railroad Berm

I have heard the term Railroad Berm mentioned a few times in the past. Heard it again today. Can someone explain to me what is Railroad Berm? Thanks

Earthwork (cut or fill) used to support a track. (made fill)...all that may exist of an abandoned railroad is the berm.
