  • I'm researching teh advertisements for CAD design software to build my layout.  Is there anyone who has any experience with any design layout software that they would recommend?

You'll be getting a spectrum of responses to this, most of which consist of "I use X and it's the greatest thing since sliced bread."

As far as I can tell, all of the major pieces of software will do the job.  And once you're through the learning curve, computer aided layout design is so much better than pencil and paper for any kind of involved work (other than general sketching and idea generating scribbles) that you'll never go back.  And once you get used to the software package you've settled on, you'll think it's the best answer for the job.

For the record, I use 3rdPlanIt.  Very feature rich, and it includes the ability to visualize your work and run it in true 3D.  Highly recommended, but see above.
